The only issue I have with the 2000 S Type is that both VVT solenoid seals leak. Oil eventually drips onto something hot and it stinks! Is it possible to replace the seals without removing the valve covers? Intuitively no, but maybe someone out there knows for sure?
Not seeing any answers from V8 owners, perhaps nobody has done it.
I can say definitely on the V6 that the cam covers have to come off to do this job.
