I have an 87 VDP with just under 70000km and I’m redoing the gaskets while I have what seems to be a 1000 parts out of the engine compartment. My first thought is that with so few miles on the car that the seal and bearing can’t be worn to the point that I need to replace it. It seems to me that its a matter of a bearing that probably has lots of miles left on it, vrs the chance that in the process of changing the bearing something doesn’t go quite right and it winds up worse than what I have now.
Any thoughts on staying with a 30yr old bearing? No leakage from the weep holes.
