What are these electrical connectors for?

1994 XJ6 just below the battery.

They are for things you do not have.
The one on the right is for the Jaguar Diagnostic Computer.

thanks. I have a lot to learn. the diagnostic port is obviously not OBD2. Would I be correct to assume there is no way to read it without a jag dealer?

Yes, in days of yore. Today they wouldn’t have the equipment or anyone with a clue how to use it. BTW it was known as Jaguar PDU and some enthusiasts do own systems.
