Nigel Thorley in his ‘Original Mark 2’ book claims three fingers between the top of the tire and body are correct. On my car three fingers easily fit on the passenger side, while three fingers must be ‘squeezed’ a bit to fit on the driver side.
My 1960 Mk2 is two fingers+ clear, but I have 205/70 tires. Seems near perfect stance. Both sides virtually the same.
