Where Does the Seal Go?

I got the banjo bolts reinstalled today including the copper washers. However, I was looking at the Service Manual and the exploded diagram of the engine on page A16, specifically item 35, the “seal” which is a shaped like 1/2 of an O ring. I don’t understand where it goes.

It replaces the identical old part on your head and shown in the spares book. Unless your engine didn’t have one like that, in which case it doesn’t.

Gasket sets often have extra bits for more than one model. If the bit you can’t figure out is black rectangular section ‘half ring’ about 1” radius, it fits in a groove on the right rear extended cam cap, to seal the cam cover.
