White exhaust from Dex III?

Hello. Newbie here. I seem to have a power steering leak on my 84 XJS, so recently added Dex III. Immediately thereafter, there is a not-insignificant amount of white smoke coming out of both exhaust pipes, sometimes one more than the other. Did I screw up by not using Dex I or II? Will this cause any harm / do I need to drain and add I or II?
Thanks for any help here.

You have a leaking transmission modulator that is sucking fluid into the
right side intake manifold. The white smoke you see is ATF burning.
Remove and replace your modulator and that should fix it. It is on the
right side of the transmission and you need to access it from below.

Agree with Paul completely. If you’re not ready to replace the steering rack, get some Lucas Oil power steering fluid for stopping leaks- that stuff really works!
