Wider track on Series Three?

Have wondered for some time about the Series 3 with the flared fenders and wanted to know if the track actually got wider with more offset to the wheels or if the front suspension is different to let the wheels move outward to fill the wheelwells. Funny after all these years and thinking you are somewhat ‘expert’ on E-Types, asking a question like this. I do know that the front sub-frame was widened to accomodate the V-12 engine

The track width is 4-3/8" wider at the front, and 3-3/8" wider at the rear for the Series 3 over the Series 1 cars.

My understanding is the rear suspension cage is the same between S1/2/3, but the arms are longer on a S3.

These extracts from Jaguar’s press release for the S3 give a good summary of the suspension changes.
