I want to upgrade my stock stereo to a more comprehensive system
(gps dvd multi disk sat radio that kinda thing)
but since the stereo isnt standard shape I’ve been having some
problems im curious does anyone have any experience with this?–

As far as I know X-Type series uses Alpine audio. I have contacted
several times with Jaguar to upgrade audio for anyform of MP3
player and I always got negative response. I have also contacted
with Alpine who confirmed that Jaguar audio systems uses modified
buses so it is not possible to include standard Alpine accesories.

I guess that you can contact a car audio specialist to wire the
older connections into a new standard connection but that may broke
your warranty (Jaguar informed me of this fact).

I am still looking for any kind of solution, there are still two
that I may try:

1.- Use iPod with FM-Emitter (lower quality than CD!)
2.- Conact Jaguar electrician to ask for a 3.5mm jack in any aux
input on the Audio system…

Guess this helped you,

Treaters one of the largest and exclusive sound dealers (an Alpine
dealer and phone installer) told me to contact the Jaguar dealer
because when it comes to Alpine-Jaguar and Motorola-Jaguar all
things are propritary.

It is a shame. I can think of no sound system on the market today
that can’t play MP3’s except the ones selling for under $49.99. I
bought a 2004 new and what it comes down to is if you did not order
a desired feature when you order your car there is a 99% chance you
are not going to be able to get it after.

I love the car but why skimp on the little things. There is not
even a way to install a guarge door opener with out butchering the
car. I guess it is like the wife you love now learn how to live
with her.–

Moreon, I talked to a Jaguar electrician who told me that
everything is connected using Optic Fiber so it is not possible to
wire a 3.5mm jack for using external audio. It seems that Fm-
Emitter is the only lasting option…

well I’ve come to the conclusion the stock audio sucks (radio
reception is awfull) so im planning on removing it completly and
replacing it with a dual DIN system hopefully one with gps
sirius/xm radio hookups or built in and maybe ipod or multi disk
changer. my only problem is I want to keep the stock remote on the
wheel so if somone can give me what the colour code is for this
cable (if anyone has a clue) would be much appreciated.

or if anyone knows where I can get an enclosure to replace the
stock audio with a single or dual din plz let me know prefrably in
the US but I can strech to importing from UK–

I have a similar problem, although the built-in Alpine Radio is
great I would like to have a MP3 player but I have built-in remote
in the wheel and Bluetooth so it seems a bit weird to keep all.

If anyone has done it I’d be glad for the advice!
