[x-type] defrost

I live in Utah and while driving in winter weather I have had some
severe fogging problems in bad weather. Has anyone had this problem.–

I have the same issue.

While installing an XM radio I removed the glove box and followed
the TSB on fogging.

I found the connector at the end of the inside/outside air flap was
rounded out and the actuator was not moving it. The reccomendation
for superglue in the TSB could not resolve the issue. In addition,
the flap was difficult to move, binding in its housing and stuck in
the recirculating position leading to the fogging.

I still need to drop the whole assembly and see what I can do maybe
pinning the connection. Else replacement of the flap.–

Hi Suggs

Has your pollen filter been replaced recently??

It is possible it is not seated properly so not sealing.

Cheers

The connection between the servo motor and the flap controlling the
outside/inside air mix is worn out on mine. I have gotten the
blower motor out but have not gotten the flapper out.

I have disconncted the wires from the motor and placed the flapper
in outside air mode. The fogging has stopped.

A supplier said the flapper is not available alone but comes in the
assembly which can run over $500.

When I am allowed back in the garage, I will see about pulling the
flapper and rebuilding the connector. Neither the bulletin nor the
service manual I have show how to get the assembly apart.

Service bulletin can be found at:
