[x-type] ECM and Error Codes...is it worth to fix?

Based on a recent problem with the cruise control, I had the
local dealer check out my 2002 X-type (2.5L). The error
codes were C1155, P0303, P0430, P1341, P1340, P1348 and
P1314. There recommendation was to replace the ECM at a
cost of $ 2600…along with replacing the spark plugs($
726). Since this car has 148K miles on it, I feel that this
is not worth it. After doing some internet research, I am
wondering if it is feasible to replace the ECM
myself…since I can obtain a unit for around $ 200. I
would like some recommendations or personal experiences that
anyone has dealt with this situation. Thanks.

I don’t see how those codes add up to a new ECU at $2600!

C1155 - Left front wheel sensor problem - sensor or bad
connector/wiring
P0303 - Misfire Cyl A3 - probably Ignition HT coil
P0430 - Cat inefficiency - possible O2 sensor problem
P1341 and P1340- Camshaft Sensor problem - Sensor or wiring
connector bad/loose
P1348 - Not listed by Jaguar!!
P1314 - Cat being contaminated by P0303

It’s your decision whether to chase that sort of list, but I would
recommend a second opinion - especially on the overall cost of
fixing it all. More like $260 for DIY (IMHO)–

Hi
I had a problem with my Speedo and gauges stop working except for the fuel and all dash lights coming on also issues with alarm and the engine not turning over. Eventually found water coming in on nearside footfall and the plugs connecting the wiring looms were getting wet and the connections were green
All sorted now apart from the water leak waiting for the better weather to sort it out.
