[x-type] H1 55W or H1 100W

I know there has been a lot of discussion on this point but I need
to know what works best. Looking for a brighter white/blue
appearance in my headlamps. The car calls for H1 55W but can I go
with H1 100W? Or, should I just go with H1 55W but a higher rating
(8,000k versus 5,000k)? Because my car is Canadian Spec the daytime
running lights are on all the time which may mean quicker burnout
of bulbs.–

Because of very nice but too small (with small surface)
headlamps on X-Type, the bulbs can overheat quickly. In my
previous X-Type I didn’t have xenon so I had to replace 55W
bulbs very often. I don’t recommend you the 100W bulbs at
all. Maybe at you, in Canada the weather colder than here,
that should helps a bit.

In general the light of normal X-Type headlamps are so bad
comparing e.g. S-Type which have big headlamps. Maybe you
should think about replace the whole (powerwash needed for
xenon) with xenon from a wrecked X-Type. I can tell you huge
difference between two headlights.–

Going to H1 100w will I am sure go beyond what the electrical
wiring is capable of taking leaving you open to problems at the
least and a fire at worst.
Not sure reference Canada, but many have changed to HIDs in UK and
have had no problems with the annual MoT test, even without
headlamp levellers and washers. I bought a cheap (chinese?) set
just to see if changing to HIDs was feasible. They are still
working well after 2 years and the difference was amazing. By the
way, the lower the Kelvin number, the brighter the light from the
HIDs. I went for 4300k.
