[x-type] info requested on factory numbers

Hello, I recently bought a Second hand X type, now having LPG
injection being installed , thanks to the good info from one of the
forum members.
I have not much info about the car but the factory info should give
me an idea about the options it might have. Anyone who can inform
me?
VIN code SAJAB52M81XC00780
First used 5/6/2001 - 45000km
Type : CF1
Variant: EAB4
selection: 5BBB B
Colour: light blue, some chrome at grille
I see there is the large screen and it has a nav system, but I only
have an empty CD /DVD? box
Airco on screen , radio on the screen ( no radio code)
I have an owners’ manual but it covers all options.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Jacques
I am sure I will have a fine car to drive.–

The vin is broken down as follows:
SAJ = Manufacturer - Jag Ltd
A = Market restraint system - Twin Air Bag
B = Transmission Steering - Manual LHD
52 = Body Code - 4 door 5 seat saloon entry
M = Emmision Code ?
8 = Check digit
1 = Year of manufacter - 2001
X = Assembly plant and Model - Halewood 2.5
C00780 = Production serial number.

Hope this is of use

Many thanks Stew,
I thought that was useful, hopefully it could be stored in a
future centralised X-type repository along with x-referencing of
part numbers etc (please Mr Admin!) .

Jacques,
I’ve read somewhere that the first 250(or so) vehicles were ‘‘pre-
production’’ for testing purposes etc. Assuming the number is
sequential regardless of engine type that puts yours in the first
600 production cars produced.

Strangely enough although mine(C02789) is about 2000 later than
yours, it’s registered slightly earlier on 23rd May 2001, perhaps
yours had a long ferry crossing before delivery.

PS:
Chrome at grille

  • indicates its not the sports model (perhaps SE given the Sat-
    Nav?)

I only have an empty CD /DVD? box

  • Have you double checked the DVD player? It will only eject the
    DVD if ignition is on (an extra anti-theft device). My original
    2001 version is pan-european (email me offline for further info),
    though you may want to consider buying the latest 2004 version
    anyway.

Airco on screen , radio on the screen ( no radio code)
 Do you mean you have no radio code(obtainable from dealer upon
presenting your VIN and proof of ownership), or that yours doesnt
require a radio code to be entered(unlikely as this is standard
Jaguar security).

I have an owners’ manual but it covers all options If still
unsure let me know (offline) and Ill check my Spec book for the
little extras an SE would have.

Regards,–

Hello,
Thanks for the info. It was surely helpful and interesting.
I am driving the car for two weeks now, it had LPG injection system
installed; runs fine after a few initial engine management problems
adapting , to LPG.
If the car was one of the very first 760 - 250, it will surely be
one of the first blue metallic, because I have never seen another
one it that nice colour over here in Belgium.Most are silver, dark
grey or British racing green.
Kind regards,
Jacques–
