[x-type] Mesh "R" Grille

Hello to all !

My goodness, this is a very quiet list compared to the XJ40 and old “modern”
list.

Since I’m a very new X-type Owner (4 days now), I thought I’d look through some
of the “old” X-type postings to see what was going w/ these automobiles. I saw
some posts earlier for the “chrome” grille, and also some wood upgrades which
looked very nice. I didn’t see a reply to anyone having tried this… looks
like you’d need to buy the entire kit to replace everything.

Also, If anyone is interested, Coventry West now has on their web site Jag OE
X-type grilles that have an all chrome, mesh look of the Supercharged XJ-Rs.
Located under parts specials. http://coventrywest.com/

Hope everyone has a great weekend !

Best Regards !
John

Yep this list is a lot quieter than the ‘modern’ , we have so much less to
complain about  knock on wood… I’ve looked at the Mesh Grill, my
dealer has one installed on a car in the showroom, and it’s nice, but I am
waiting to see a standard style grill with all the vertical struts chromed.
Instead of blacked out. I think that might look good also.

Hi John,

Well, I for one don’t plan on being very quiet around here. Guess I’m
one of those guys who always has lots to say!

As for the chrome grill, I’ve seen several offerings for the mesh design,
but I really like the chrome version of the original rib design. It looks
so much sleaker and more ‘original’ looking. Here’s a link for it if anyone
is interested.

I’ve also been babbling my head off on another x-type board. Not trying to
sway anyone from here, since I really enjoy this forum, but I think it’s
important to cross-pollenate the information, otherwise it becomes stale
too quickly.

Plenty more to come (and say!).

Hi Ken,

See my posted response to John. You can get the chrome struts! I emailed
the vendor and asked for real digital photos of a completed fit, and they
say they will be doing this very soon. The pictures on their website look
a little too ‘artistic’ to be objective.

I also just ordered the wood kit from www.wooddash.com (in So Cal) and am
quite anxious to get it. The photos look great and one lister already
reports
positively on it and posted their actual photo.

Mine is due for delivery in about 10 days and I’ll be sure to post a report.

Another place for aftermarket add-ons for the X-Type is Arden in Germany.
They have body kits, chrome kits, tailpipes, taillights, etc.

Those Chrome pieces are exactly what I was looking for, but I am unsure
from the pic exactly what the ribs are, or how they install. Do they fit
over the Black plastic Ribs already in place, or do they somehow replace
them. I guess my next question is whats the Euro-dollar exchange rate ;).
If you would send me a copy of the pics direct, and if all looks well I’ll
order the Chrome grill ribs, and we can swap impressions of the grill and
the wood inserts.

I also have a price list from Racing Green Arden Performance,

http://www.arden.de/homee.htm ,that was emailed to me when I requested info
on Performance mufflers for the X-Type. So far they are the only source I
have found but at 695 pounds they are a bit pricey. I am hoping that as the
car continues to sell well, other performance muffler manufacturers will
drive the prices down some. Besides a throatier exhaust will cover up some
of the driveline noise.----- Original Message -----
