[x-type] Wherefore Quality Control?

Sent my 2001 3.0SE for ‘‘health check’’ at 37K kms. All ok
except rear pads needed replacement! Seems like this is
common with this car as it has been vented in various fora!

But what surprised me was the 2004 2.5 Sport that I had as a
loaner - if I had taken that for a test drive, I would not
have touched an X-type with a bargepole! It had just on 7K
on the clock, had the dreaded vibration at 70 - 100 kph (did
not exceed that), and the front suspension groaned a few
times under braking! This is exactly the problems that I had
to sort out over many visits to the dealer when I bought my
3.0SE. So Q/C has not improved in over 3 years. What is
wrong with Jaguar??

You seem to have missed my point Gel.All manufacturers have
problems from time to time - it is the nature of the
business. But to allow a well-known problem to continue
years after it has been documented and analysed is surely
unforgivable. And to make it even worse, in this case the
loaner was being used as a daily commuter by a technical
service provider. It took a lot of my time and effort to
have the teething problems on my cat sorted out, and all of
them were well documented in the 2001 model.
Now I would not change my car in a hurry - love it! But what
would my next choice be given such an experience? My reason
for posting is the hope that Jaguar do monitor this good forum!
