[x300] 1995 XJ6 spark plugs location

(Please don’t laugh!) I want to change the spark plugs but I could
not locate where in the engine block the 6 spark plugs are in my
1995 XJ6. Also, how frequent should the spark plugs be changed?

Thank you for your help.–

Spark plugs? We don’ need no steenkeeng spark plugs!

I won’t laugh, as I wondered the same thing. They’re under the
panel that is in the middle of the head (the one that proclaims
Jaguar), and you’ll need a 6 sided ‘‘star’’ tool to remove the bolts,
as well as a pretty long adapter for the plug socket. They’re way
down in there. Consult your manual or favorite wrench for frequency
of change.

Make sure that the gaskets on the coils are still intact. The coils
are really expensive should they fail, and the gaskets can revent
this.

Have a read of the archives on this, there was a very good thread a
couple of months ago.

Hi …I’m probably stating the obvious (?) here but you will also
have to unplug and remove the individual ignition coil which is
fitted at each spark plug position. Take care not to tear the
sealing gasket under the coil mounting flange. The spark plug is
then visible underneath.

I found that I had to buy a special 10-inch socket set extension
bar and a special spark plug spanner with a knuckle joint as these
plugs have a smaller than normal hexagon.

Recommend changing plugs every 20,000 miles.
