[x300] 2000 XJR door motor

The door lock on the rear of my 2000 XJR has stopped
working. I can lock the door manually from the inside, but
it wont close or open with the rest of the locks with the
key or fob. I’ve replaced the motor solenoid (admittedly wi
with a used one) and it still wont operate. It struck me th
that something might need to be done with the on board co
computer or that maybe there is a master controller which is
isn’t working. Any ideas anybody???

Many thanks in advance–

Yeah, there are modules, bits and bytes, and a bunch of
wires between the body processor and the solenoid motor. I
imagine you could swap the right and left door modules and
see what happens. I would expect the wrong window would go
up and down in this configuration, when activated from the
driver switches. It would be worthwhile to check the fuses,
especially the ones in the trunk and left and right heel panels.–

I had that problem on an X308 I had. Turned out to be the battery.

Thanks guys. When I took the door panel off, I noticed
three things. First the the screw under the door pull was
missing and there was no obvious ‘‘screw hole’’ for it in the
door metal. Secondly there was a hole manually cut into
the door to accommodate a panel retaining clip. Thirdly, a
Ford control module was in the bottom of the door but
wasn’t connected to any of the multiplex cables lying in
the door. It almost seems that the door was replaced at
some time (although the paint under the panel is the
correct color) and the door metal was modified possibly
because its decorative panel did not match the color of the
car interior. I’m tempted to plug the door cables into the
door controller, but I’m worried it might screw up the main BMC
BMC… Any thoughts??–

Well… you have to wonder why it was left disconnected. On
the other hand, if it does mess up the communication bus
when plugged in, it PROBABLY will not do any irreversible
damage. The door might be from an X-308.

If you are pretty sure you have an X-300 module, then PM me
a picture of it and I will see if I can find one in my
‘‘junk’’ pile. It will be yours for the right price! Like
postage.–
