[x300] '95 XJ6 - Problem caused by water

Two days ago, when I was bringing 2 gallons of ‘‘bottled
water’’ in the trunk, the bottle’s cap came off and the water
spilled all over the trunk. And just before I reached home
and realised the spillage, I noticed that the orange ‘bulb’
warning signal came on a few times. I removed most of the
water out of the trunk, but some places were still damp.
Now, the car won’t start. I tried to jump-start, but no use.
I’d appreciate any ideas/thoughts on this.–

I would guess some water has got into one of the relay sockets near the
battery, or maybe even a relay itself and so is stopping power getting
through. You could try removing the relays, drying everything out including
down the holes where the relay plugs in, then reseating.
