[x300] 95XJ6 interior lights issue - body control module issue?

I have some funky things happening on my 95XJ6.

Here is what I have happening:

When I turn my headlights on, the orange headlight dash light with
the X through it comes on and stays on while driving. I have owned
jags before and this light usually goes out - I assume it is
supposed to on a 95?

When I open the sunroof sometimes BOTH the map lights automatically
come on and I have to manually shut them off

When I arm my alarm system, only the drivers headlight comes on and
goes off

To program my alarm remote, I followed the instructions on this
site. It would not program. By luck I did it again using the
instructions but in addition turned on my headlights while
programming it (truck open, drivers door open, headlights on etc).
Why is this?

Evry now and then when I close a door, both map light come on and
stay on. I have to open a door and manually shut them off. After
I do and close the door they do not re-appear.

I am puzzled on this one and have heard all this could be a faulty
body control module. What does a body control module do? Is the
alarm part of this module? To replace one, just disconnect battery
and plug a new one in???

Appreciate any help to a new poster on this site!!

You may be right, the Body Processor has an interior lighting
module in it that triggers the trunk lights, map lights, rear
passenger lights and sunvisor lights. I think that changing this
unit is a dealer programming item . You can try changing it, the
worst is that you will have to go to the dealer anyway. I don’t
have a good feel for the alarm issues, there is a separate module
in the trunk for it, but it might have links to the BPM as well.
The dash light is telling you you have a bulb burned out somewhere.
As far as I can tell, the BPM is not involved in this, but the bulb
indicator is part of the instrument pack computer and it gets
serial communication which I can’t follow. There are some
electrical experts here that may be able to help. One thing I have
found is that when there are a lot of various issues like this, a
weak battery can be at the root of it.–
