X300 97 VDP Rotor Re-surfacing

Can anyone shed light on why the local O’Reilly Auto store’s computer says “Do Not Re-surface”. They would not do mine.

In the past I have just replaced rotors when changing brakes but as my Brembos have a lot of highway miles on them I thought I would consider re-surfacing them . They still read 28mm thick. I have some pulsating in the front. I use Brembos and Akebonos on this car and my XJ40.

Can’t imagine it’s even worth doing anymore. Rotors are not expensive, I would think the labor to resurface would be about the same?

To answer your question, I don’t know why they couldn’t be resurfaced though.

Because of the material on the rotors used for faster cooling, DO NOT CUT THE ROTORS…
They are so cheap and shaving a hair throws out the entire balance, ITS NOT WORTH IT THEY WILL WARP.

That was my overall impression. Hadn’t turned a rotor since my poor school days. But I saw a number of post from people who said they routinely turned them (at O’Reilly) when they changed pads that it intrigued me.

I don’t go cheap on my cars so I ordered Brembos again.
