I had a similar problem. Turn the car on, drive some meters and
when I brake the light comes on. But, it only happen to me 3 or 4
times, and never seen the light on again.

I think the you have some ABS sensor damaged or dirty, or check
also the earth link in the hub.

My best regards,
Miguel–

If your weather is as cold as it is here, you may need to look no
further than the battery.

At 0 degrees C you only have half the battery you had at +25C. If
that half of a battery is low then the ABS will not pass the
diagnostic checks performed during the first few yards of driving.
Mainly, this is because the ABS pump will not have charged the
system with full pressure…And that is often due to low battery
voltage.

Hope it solves itself!

Hi,

Also check the JTIS and change the relays around, they are
much cheaper than sensors! But as Miguel says check for crud
as well.

I had similar problems rectified by cleaning the connectors inline
in the ABS sensors. There are two at the front, at the front of the
wheels wells, hidden from view as they are just tucked into the
engine bay. But look where the wires disappear into the engine bay
and there are inline connectors there.

Suspect there are similar connectors at the rear.

But I also replaced the battery around the same time so maybe that
was the issue.–

G’day Gents,

Quite often an ABS or TRAC problem can be cleared by disconnecting, cleaning
and re-connecting the various electrical plugs associated with the system.

The two rear ABS sensor plugs are under the back seat, which has to come out
for access.

If the light is off when you start the car but then comes
on once you reach about 12mph the problem is most likely
the solder joints to the pump connector in the abs module.
it’s possible to cut the module open & resolder these if
you’re reasonably handy. Details are well described on the
forum.

If the light comes on & doesn’t clear with a restart you
need to plug in a fault reader. Cleaning connectors to the
abs sensors or the main plug to the abs module might fix
it. the r hand rear abs lead is a common source of
problems. A fault read should help.–

Most of the time the problem is an electrical one. There is a
connector to the ABS unit/motor under the hood. Loose the connector
and check it for dirth/corrosion. Clean the contacts and check the
wiring. This should do!–
