[x300] CD changer EE-01

CD changer in 95 XJ6 now displays EE-01. Radio works fine. I’ve
checked the archives and have a fair idea what to replace with CD
changer with but no info on this error. CD cartridge will not come
out and does not attempt to eject it. This is the base sound
system with no sub or amp. Any one seen this error before? I have
not seen the no connect error.

I had the same problem but the case came out. I tried to hit with
the hand at the bottom of the cd charger and it functionned again!!!
When I put the case in the charger I always have to hit the charger
for the spring coming out to block the case.–

When they start this, the head unit is going bad. The radio will
need to be replaced. No one has reported repairing one successfully
yet.–

It’s the error code that shows you’re playing crap music.–

Kevin

I had the exact same thing happen with my 96 XJ6 A search
revealed that a credit card inserted under the cartridge would
release it. Worked, put cart back in and all well for 3 months.

Kane,
Thanx for the tip. I did see that in the book and tried it, which
does release the cartrdige so least I can get my disks back. But no
luck still no noise from the changer and error persists. I’ll spend
some more time with it this weekend.–

Using the archive, search under djanuczkowski cd and you will find
a July 8, 2004 JLAMSI (Jag Lovers Armchair Mechanic Service
Instruction) entry where I successfully repair the CD changer that
was indicating a E01 error code. If you have the same problem as I
did, you will find out that you have a screw loose (or two and/or
missing).–
