[x300] Cold X300

Before I freeze to death can anyone give me a clue as to why
there’s no hot air in my climate control system. Everything else on
the car works fine.–

I used to have same problem because oil heat sensor was broken.
Heat start to come out when heat sensor sending signal to computer
that car is warm already.
Does your heatoil sensor showing something or its on 0 level?
Thats can be a problem–

Could be a number of things including coolant temp sensor, heater coolant
pump ( it’s an auxilliary electric pump), heater coolant control valve,
blend flaps, fan, control unit etc.

Try the climate control unit diagnosis in the online guide - that will give
you a clue if the ECU knows of the problem. Also, feel the temperature of
the heater coolant pipes as they go into the car and feel the pump to see
if it’s working. You can find the pump and associated pipework at the rear
of the engine bay on the left side.

Many thanks. The water temp gauge works normally and I’ve run the
diagnostic tests. Nos 11 and 24 were up before I ran the tests but
I got big fat 0 after running them.

However the pipes around the valve and the pump are cold.so I guess
it must be pump, valve or relay, the fuse is OK.–

If the pipe from the back of the engine which feeds the heater valve/pump
etc annd then goes forward to the radiator is hot then it does sound like a
pump valve problem. You can check by disconnecting their electrical
connectors and applying voltage directly. The valve will clunk and you can
hear water movement as the pump operates.

Let us know how you get on.

I had this problem. After investigating the control system, the valve and
the pump it turned out to be a block heater matrix. The indepenent Jaguar
specicailist who eventually fixed it says this is a known X300 problem.
Apparently it occurs at the start of the winter when heat is required after
a long period of heat free operation. Flushing the matrix cures the problem
for at least a year. A new matrix is a longer term fix.
