[x300] Creaking Noise from Rear when making slow turns

My 96 X300 has recently began making ‘‘Creaking’’ noises which
sounds like from the rear when I make turns, but only
noticing it on low speeds. I notice it more on left hand
turns than right as well. What does everyone think??
bushings, shocks?? thanks…–

My 1995 XJR made creaking sounds at the rear also. These
went away after the 4 U-joints in the rear axles were lubed.–

Creaking noise would be understandable with a limited slip diff,
especially if you had recently refilled it and not used special LSD
oil or additive. However, assuming you don’t have an LSD and the
noise has suddenly come on, I’d say you need to get under the back
and eyeball the UJs, the diff outputs amd rear wheel bearings/lower
fulcrum bearings to see what’s what. When did you last lube things
under there?

Creaking can come from crumbling shock upper bush foams but look
for the obvious first.

thanks guys for the answers… Yea it has been a while
since I had anything lubed under there, so I will get that
checked when I have a oil change done in about 2 weeks or
so. As far as the diff goes, I know I changed the fluid in
it about a year ago, and the shock bushings were done about
3 years ago, but made totally different noises to what I
hear now from when they were going bad… How often do the
shock bushings last in these cars anyways?? I heard they do
fail quite often! :(–
