[x300] Delayed movement of drivers side electric window

The passenger side & both rear electric windows all move
up/down immediately the appropriate switch is pressed. The
switch for the drivers side window has to be pressed for
several seconds before the window moves up or down…
Is this normal or is there a problem?–

Sounds odd to me - there should be a ‘‘one-touch’’ circuit
that opens the drivers window all the way - as it says with
one touch. Apparently ONLY the driver’s window and only to
open it.

Maybe this circuit has gone faulty and caused the delayed
drop ? On mine the one-touch circuit has operated just the
once so I have to hold the button until the window has
dropped - but it starts to drop without any delay.

Can one of the experts join in and let us know where the
circuit is and if it can go faulty ?

Many thanks

Is that a definite maybe, then ? - or perhaps not ?

The battery was recently replaced, after such a reconnection
does the one touch window drop system have to be manually reset?–

Always worth a try to disconnect the battery; then have a
cup of coffee then reconnect. Quite often resolves all
sorts of mystifying electronic faults.

Thinking about it, mine worked just the once BEFORE I
disconnected my battery but not after. Will have to try a
disconnect again myself.

The unit controlling the window lift is in the driver’s door
switchpack - there’s a thing in there they call the ‘‘current
sense and control circuit’’ and also some relays which may be
the cause of the trouble.

Beats me why they didn’t do the job properly, like BMW,
whose 1990’s cars have one-push electric window opening &
closing on both front windows (maybe all windows on 4-door
models ?). Maybe I’ve been spoilt ?

Why have I some parts left over? It came off, so it should
fit back on? Right?

Jim,

The X308 has one touch opening on all 4 windows. For safety
reasons, the cars don’t have one touch closing. There were several
incidents of children poking their heads out of the window then,
accidentally pushing the button and getting their heads stuck.
Sadly, IIRC there were several fatalities. Some manufacturers did
have one touch closing but, with sensors that stopped the window
rising if it sensed any resistance.–

Jaguar obviously threw caution to the wind then with the
X350 because that has one touch opening and closing on all
four windows. Another reason to get an X350.
