[x300] Drain hole plugs

In the trunk of my 99 XJR, there are 6 drain hole plugs in the spare tire compartment. 3 are about 1&1/4 inch and 3 are about 1&1/2 inch. They appear to be metal, and have clips that are bent to hold them in place. Three of them have come unseated, and the Jag dealer cannot seem to find them. He can get me a new trunk floor however :wink:

I have no idea why there would be 6 drain holes of this size, but that’s irrelevant. Does anyone know where I might be able to get a set of these? Perhaps a part number?

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Jon

Jon,

I think these are ‘standard’ self-sealing plugs, widely used
to blank off tooling holes and such in the sheet metal of
the bodywork. (i.e I do not believe they are there for
drainage purposes)

If they are from a similar range to those used on the XJ40
is similar positions, you have a choice of sizes which
should be available through the dealer:-

All are described as ‘Metal Sealing plug’

BAC4308 = 16 mm dia
BAC4303 = 20 mm dia
BAC4319 = 25 mm dia
BBC4358 = 30 mm dia
BBC4361 = 40 mm dia
BAC4307 = 50 mm dia

BTW, they may be ‘self-sealing’ by the application of heat
to the sealant already on the plug - but I’m not too sure
about that, check with your dealer.–
