[x300] fitting cruise control

i would like to fit a cruise control into my x300, I have been
looking for a while, (driving my wife mad) and found someone
selling a kit already stripped from an x300.
Please can anybody send me the pictures to where all the parts
go, I am fairly good at putting things together but need some
pictures to help.–

I’ve got the JTIS from when I retrofitted mine and believe
I scanned it, I’ll sort it out and forward ot on if you
give me a dau or two. IIRC I may have done so and put it
in the archives, also check online @ www.jagrepair.com as
it may also be in there.

It’s amornings work, worst bit is changing the brake micro
switch and make sire if it’s an Auto you link out the
clutch, or lack of one!–

You also need the CORRECT Facia Switch Panel for C/C! Of
the correct colour etc.–

Lifeboats, you’ve gone quiet!

The Classic Parts site apparently doesn’t have any stock and
the following schematic no longer goes down to the numbered
component parts unfortunately:

IIRC items 2, 4. 8 & 12 are involved and it also has the
indicator window on the RHS. I did get one initially that
was the WRONG colour and would have looked SH*TE and I
contemplated butchering that and trying to modify the
original but I waited until the correct black one came up on
Fleabay and sold the other two to offset the cost!

Total cost to me was about 120 five and a half years ago.–

Lifeboats, I hope you need Black/Warm Charcoal as they are
as rare as Rocking Horse Sh*t as far as both used and new
ones go. David Manners do have some new ones at various
costs, they don’t give too much detail but the Warm Charcoal
appears to cover speed & traction control and if you don’t
have traction that’s only a redundant inoperative switch!

Should all be in the fitting instructions I emailed
you, parts list and diagrams etc. The CU is a box that fits
in the footwell, as is the micro switch assy, the dump
valve goes in the wheel well on the near side under the
outer mud shield and the pump inside the engine bay behind
the NS headlamp. If you can’t work it out get an Indy to
do it for you or have a look in a car that has it!–

I can PM the Electrical Guide if you don’t have it but it
will only give you the connector references not detailed
guidance, they are usually taped back adjacent to the
module &don’t forget the link for the clutch sw if your’s
is an auto!–

Cruise control now fitted and working fine, slight
schoolboy error on the test as the plug had come off the
dash control panel. So it would not work on the first test
but when reconnected all working fine.thanks for the forum

Hi lifeboats !
I acquired recently a X300 (1997) w/o the CC and would like to fit one.
5 years latter … I hope your CC works fine ?
I found all pieces from another X300 (same model year)…but before to start this mutation ! Please would you share your experience (document, tuto,…) .
Thanks a lot
Bruno

Wow … this is confusing me … I thought CC was pretty much standard on all Jags, starting with at least the XJ40s. Is it an option in the U.K. or something?

Hi Paul, no it is not fitted to the base 3.2 Sport X300, at least it wasn’t on mine when I bought it in 2009. I was lucky as the JDHT had a kit minus the Switch Panel which I aquired from Fleabay.
It’s fiddlly to fit especially the brake switch, but it’s not a long job.
I did post the files to Lifeboats for the kit of parts and fitting instructions way back and they should be in the Archives

Hi Bruno

I managed to fit a kit i purchased a number of years ago, it was not difficult as i remember, all the connectors and places to put the brackets are there… The only difficult job i found was finding all the connectors especially under the dash board. I just kept going and after laying under the dash for a while found all the connectors tucked away.

Cruise control still works a treat.

I have attached the info i got at the time.

Best of luck,

Andy

Thanks a lot, Dear Lifeboats !

You are right all connectors are in place … just to find all of them …under the dash board !

I 'll try to install one

Best regards, Bruno
