Does anyone have a reccomendation for a good quality replacemnt
floor mats (overlays) for my X300. I have AGD/Oatmeal interior so
I think the correct color is Sable. On Ebay and the like, there
are products available from $39 to $89 dollars indicating they are
the correct pattern, but I am not convinced on color, type of
backing, edge finish, and heel protectors.
Anyone have a good reccomnedation?–

The taupe colored mats from my wife’s scrapped 1993 Chrysler
Intrepid are almost a perfect match for the Jaguar carpet in my
1996. I believe my interior is ‘‘Oatmeal’’. I have used them to
protect the Jag mats and am very happy with the results.–

Hi, unless these are not available in the US, why not buy the
genuine Jaguar mats as a ‘‘spare part’’ from your local dealer? Last
time I bought some for my X300 they were about 100 GB pounds (60-70
USD?) for a set of four.

100 GBP is more like 170USD.
You are not wrong, but more-accurately 100 GBP is $178.40 today, which is
an improvement over the recent past. The British Pound has only dropped
below US$1.80 in the last few days and has been as high as US$1.87 this year
(July 19).
There are a great many websites where the current exchange rate can be
accessed; one good one is:
Since we buy a lot of our Jaguar and Rover parts from the UK, the exchange
rate is something we watch pretty closely. Oh, for the days of US$1.42 to
the Pound!
I also have a personal reason for watching the $/ rate: my youngest son is
doing a semester at the University of Lancaster this fall and when the
rises against the $, it hits me directly in the wallet!

I bought the black rubber matts from the dealer – they
are in the Jaguar book – fronts only. I have a VDP
with the light ivory. The sheepskin mats would have
lasted about a week.
I have found them to be great - and they are a nice
contrast with the light interior.
I think they were about $75.00usd–

My weekend project was to solve a deteriorating floor mat problem.
Although the carpet surface was in good shape, the foam antiskid
backing was worn out and torn, and the rubberized surface under it
was failing and breaking up in to small pieces. In the spots where
the foam was torn, these black pieces, (like coarse sand) would
spill out. Never ending clean up.
I removed all of the foam. The underside of each mat is coated
with a black rubberized material. I think it is designed to give
stiffness to the mats and weight. I used a wire brush to remove
it. Under it was a woven ‘‘jute’’ type backing.
After the rubberized material was off, I used hose to clean and
rinse the mats. Because there is no backing, you can really clean
thes mats. A lot of soapy residue, from spot cleaners, rinsed from
the mats when I did this. Scrubbed it with a brush, and let the
mats dry in the sun. No damage was done to the carpet.
I had some inexpensive clear plastic floormats with anti skid nibs
on them. I trimmed them as closely as possible to match the mat
shape. Using contact cement, I attached the clear mats to the
original carpet mats. Result was very good. If I were to do it
again, I would buy some adhesive that was low odor. Ater sitting
outside for a day, the glue odor dissipated.
Regarding the new backing, you could also purchse clear carpet
runner by the linear foot to do this job. At home depot, they had
a 12ft roll for $4.98.–

You are talking about the runner that has the ‘‘spikes’’ on the
underside - yes?
