Anyone had any luck with using a LiftMaster Sears Craftsman Garage
Door Receiver 635LM to add Homelink functionality to a garage door
opener? It looks like it might be compatible with the homelink in a
96 but the company selling it say the car needs to be Security+
compatible too. I can’t find any reference to Security+.
Thanks–

Mike,
I’m not sure about that number, but in general, the built-in garage
door openers in the x-300’s will not read the rolling codes in
newer systems that most homes have now. The x-308’s will read them.

I keep wondering myself if it could be changed the original
receiver from our cars with a Sears or other brand rolling code
receiver?–

It works just fine, I’ve been using one for about a year with no problems.
To be clear: the 635LM is a second receiver you attach to your existing
receiver. The 635LM receiver can be programmed (or more accurately the car’s
transmitter) to work with the existing opener, so you can use one of the
buttons in the car. However, this means a step back in terms of the rolling
code technology. From my research, the system in the car is a simple rolling
code system, not as sophisticated as the current generation.

Hmm. Did anybody tried to fit a x308 garage door opener to a x300.
I have a dealer who sells jags in pieces. Maybe I can get on of
those if it fits…–
