[x300] Help! heater gurgle and drip

Help! Following a hand car wash I found a slow drip emanating from
behind the glove box. One drip every two to three seconds, maybe 2
to 3 ounces puddled into the carpeted floor mat. Seems to have
diminished after an hour or so. Placed a plastic tray beneath the
general area to collect a drip or two in hopes of determining if it
was fresh water or a mix of water and collant, taste and sniff test
seems to indicate fresh water.

I did notice a gurgling water sound from the general vacinity when
the car was started and the heater on but assume that it may be
common to heater operation. Never noticed this drip following
hours of rain driving this past weekend or in previous hand car
washes, but I was not looking.

The outside air mix vents were probably opened, however I can not
believe that water would have migrated in through the vent and
resulted in a leak or that a heater core could be leaking.

Any ideas that will pre-arm me fro the visit to the dealer as the
care is a CPO under warranty. Hope this is not indicative of an
Incontinent Cat.

In reply to a message from C42 sent Tue 8 Feb 2005:

The volume of the leaking fluid is probably a total of 2 oz. over
the course of today. After eight hours, the leak continued even
though it was very minor. I have an appointment with the dealer to
replace the scratched front passenger side glass, inspect and
repair the leak on the Tuesday the 15th under warranty.

I am wondering now if it could simply be the heater valve or hose
weeping. Drip accumulation point is at the bottom of the deater
blower housing. Still an annoying mystery.–
