[x300] Hot air only

I’m only getting hot air from the heating system that doesn’t seem
to have any variation in temp. I’ve got a fault 23 code which
probably means the ac needs a recharge. I’ll not be recharging it
as I’ve got the car on the road for another month and then it will
be dismantled. So the question is, in order to give variation in
heat, does the ac system come into play? I didn’t think it would.
Is there no way of getting cold air from outside the car into the
cabin? The car steams up all the time so I have to clear it by
switching on and off the heating.–

When I turn my a/c off (but everything else on as normal) I
do get warm air wafting through which is a bit annoying.
However all comes good when I turn the a/c on and then it
does what it says on the box.

If you want cool air from outside and the a/c is not working
then open the windows and sliding roof - that is quite
effective !

Lucky you! Most folks with an X300 don’t get heat when
something fails!

If I had to guess, I’d suggest your heater diverter valve is
stuck in ‘‘heat’’ mode and not closing off the supply of hot
coolant.

The valve is pretty straight forward to disassemble and
clean if tit’s the problem.–

Thanks for the advice chaps. I’ll start with the diverter valve.–
