Not such a bad idea - offers a fifferentiation betwen top
managers and those that aspitre to be top managers. Even if
the firm aren’t buying it for you, it shows respect not to
have a better car than your boss !

It’s a shame options such as this aren’t available in the
States. I even asked Jaguar directly if they had any plans
to sell the diesels over here; they said no.
I do drive a nicer car than my boss - but I don’t respect
him, either… >:-)

Never mind imports, it’s bizarre that you don’t even get the
diesels your own manufacturers supply to customers overseas. We get
diesel Jeep Grand Cherokees and I’m sure there are others.

A V6 diesel was offered in at least the Jeep Liberty for a few years. I
drove a few…nice engine.

The initial purchase price is always significantly higher and diesel is more
expensive here than gasoline (or at least used to be…haven’t looked
recently) so, to many buyers, the option doesn’t look attractive.

Diesels are very popular in pickups, though.

I loved the diesels that I rented in Europe at any other time other than
fillup. That smell stays with you for quite a while! It seems diesel has
the evaporation time of just a bit longer than water I think and the ability
to travel further than the splashings of the guy in the adjacent urinal

Jeez - no wonder they banned smoking in the toilets!!
I’ve graduated to drinking alcohol - diesel is just too
expensive now.–

Yup, you have a point. I always pick a pump without fresh spillage
on the ground or heaps of sand spear around. Plus at least these
days they do all supply disposable gloves so you don’t get the
stink when you handle the pump nozzle.

Can’t comment on the splashings of the guy next door. He is
probably on a forum somewhere complaining about mine

looming on the horizon…)
