[x300] Maintenance on low mileage X308

Hello all.

I have a 2001 XJ8 with only 7k miles on it and was wondering if
there is any special maintenance that must be done other than
changing the oil every six months.

I am particularly interested in the nikasil and ‘‘cracking manifold’’
situations. Will such low use make these problems worse or
better? I’m assuming the heat cycles will make the manifolds more
suseptable to cracking but as for the nikasil issue I have no idea.

I’ve asked my dealer about the nikasil problems but to my
astonishment they told me they never heard of the issue!

I know, it’s a shame I don’t enjoy my cat more often but I just
can’t bring myself to leave her outside in the hot Florida sun for
5 days a week!

never heard of manifold issues on the V8s

As far as Nikasil, I’ve asked the chief tech at my dealer and he cfm’d that
the only time they’ve seen the issue is when people gotoo long between oil
changes… like 12 to 15 k !
