[x300] Mobile Phone Aerial

Hi,

I have just bought a 1995 x300 3.2 Sovereign to replace my 1989 3.6 XJ40
Sovereign, beautiful car.

I am installing a Nokia phone kit, I have notice that in the centre of the
rear window at the top, is a small black square with a coax cable attached
to the inside. This has two wire elements in the glass with words “High
Security Antenna”. Also, in the boot (trunk) is a coax cable with a
connector that looks the same as the one on the phone.
The question is.
Is this a built in car phone aerial, and does the cable in the boot come
from the back window. Also, is it compatible with a Nokia phone on Orange in
the UK.

John - what you’ve spotted there is the remote central locking/alarm
antenna. It’s very straight foward to wire a mobile phone aerial into
the X300. (Takes approx 2 hours).
