[x300] Noisy Clutch Release Bearing: Advice from Brands Hatch Jag day

You listers kindly commented on my current noisy clutch of 2003-
2007 which is only audible when clutch is half way depressed - and
not when in neutral. It has been a slow fault for 4 years.

Solution: take gearbox out, labour 5-8 hours- fit new clutch kit, (
parts cost Pounds 300 or USD 600)

At Brands Hatch Racing Circuit Classic Sports car day last Saturday-
there were many XJ6 racers/owners. Typically the 4 litre with
manual box and only one seat,(for lightness) + fire extinguisher,
and stengthened doors, etc. Great fun, nice smell of burnt oil.
One lady race driver too.

The comments there amounted to ‘leave it alone until it breaks’
‘It can’t do much damage even if bearing goes’ ‘if clutch not
slipping leave alone’

Looks like I may just ignore it, and as they say - pay up when it
finally breaks. The wallet may overrule…–
