This was easier than I thought. The illumination bulb is easily reached
right at the front of the gearshift quadrant.

Just noticed that my gearshift quadrant has gone dark. The red indicator
to show “P” “R” “D” etc is working but the backlighting isn’t.The parts catalog suggests that the indictor dial is sold complete as a
“gear illumination assembly” or something like that. If I open it all up
am I gonna find conventional bulbs or the soldered-onto-the PCB type of
thing?
