[x300] Sunroof Seal

The manual says you need a special tool to install a new sunroof
seal on a 96. Anyone done this without the tool?–

I did this job with my hands, a rubber mallet and a pair of
pliers. I removed the sunroof and worked on a clean piece of
carpeting.

First grease the inside of the seal with dishwashing soap.
There will be some excess when you’re done, cut it a bit
long so that no gap develops. A hacksaw should work,
tinsnips will cause too much deformation.

Its a bear of a job, but you can do it if you’re patient.–

How it can be adjusted if it’s wavy(up&down)? Body shop did a poor
job when they put it together.–

Use you thmbs to squeeze the low spots into place. Or you
could take the roof off and use something like a rolling pin
(for cookies) to even the seal out. Seriously.–
