[x300] That 420 Code and replacing O2 sensors

Greetings all,

Enjoying this resource as we deal with our NEW pre-owned XJ6 (96
VDP) - which replaced our 97 which was ~sob~ hit & run & totalled.

It threw a 420 code - catalytic converters - and I see some
forums traffic speculating that replacing 2 upstream most likely or
even all 4 of the O2 sensors may solve that.

I have cleared the code but California has strict emissions
enforcement and I think it is possible I will fail the next
emissions test if evidence of a bad cat.

Also my fuel economy appears to be on the poor side - 20
mpg/highway.–

In reply to a message from HiGoNRG sent Tue 24 Jan 2012:

I had the the 420 code many times when I first bought my 96 VDP.
When I fixed the cracked exhaust manifolds the code went away. The
exhaust was not loud. I found the cracks by removing the cover and
using my hands at start up to feel for the leaks.–
