[x300] The end of an era

I sold Ansley today. He’ll be going to a loving new home…
a real car-enthusiast who already owns another '95 X300 with
higher mileage.

Time to move on. I will not be sans a Jaguar forever… in
fact, probably not for too long. But I will be looking for a
much newer one next… one that’s only 10 years old

Low-mileage late-X308 territory, I’m thinking. Perchance to
dream… so with the growing family, over the next year,
I’ll just have to spend a lot of time looking at Autotrader
instead of a lot of time upside-down under my Jag

Thanks for the good years here, the great value and help and
friendship. I’ll still be around the forum of course. It has
actually been nearly eight years since I started coming
here!

He’ll be a great car, but I need a much lighter load.

Thanks guys - cheers to all - happy days! I’ll be back with
an X308 or X350 in tow! :)–

Andy

W H A T ! - after all those reams and reams of
010101001110110 's to get Ansley back to not stalling any more.

Well, I guess TWINS concentrate the mind - ours certainly
did! They are worth it in the end though (they tell me).

Perhaps by the time you return, we shall have a shiny new
forum with the X300’s having a section of their own without
having to double check if it is a V8 question every time.
Maybe - but I’m not betting on it.

May your retirement be temporary

Best wishes from Jim Butterworth

Ha! Maybe so. Well, the car has been running terrific, 1000
miles or so I’ve been driving it every day. I just kind of
need to focus on other things over the next year or two. I’ll
also most likely relieve myself of my other older cars.

A dedicated X300 forum you say!

I’ll just believe it when I see it.–

Well all’s well that ends well! I hope that the purchaser is
not a friend as in my experience that’s one buyer to stay
well clear of.

With all the X300 parts you have in stock you should be able
to finance the purchase of a latish X308 out of the profit
if you set up a shop on fleabay or whatever and sell them on.

Hope to see you back on here very soon.–

So, you bombard the forum with impossible technical questions, wait
for the brains trust to supply the answers to your problems, use
their expertise and knowledge to get Ansley into tip top working
condition then, go and sell him!!! The bare faced cheek of it:-(>
I think that the least you could do is, buy everyone a round in the
Pub.

I’m just glad that I didn’t bother to offer any of my vast
knowledge and expertise:-)>–

Ha I didn’t think of that Gary, we probably are much cheaper
than a Main Stealer and probably have more hands on
expertise. With the obvious exception of myself of course,
I’ve always been better at criticising and giving (usually)
unsolicited advice and sarcasm!–

Haha, that’s right Gary… I’ve looted the coffers here!

Actually, to follow the saga, I thoroughly exhausted the
brain trust, frustrated everyone and myself, then bumped
backwards into a (the) solution, a genuine shot in the dark
re-installing old, OEM coils. So really… my eventual fix
involved no thinking whatsoever on anyone’s part

Nevertheless, I’d love to buy a round.

True enough, I’m hoping to pay for my kids’ college tuition
by emptying the shelves in my shed of X300 parts. There are
MANY. I’ll have to see if I can find someone to purchase all
of it as a lot. Peddling these parts individually could
become an occupation in itself.–

Hahahaaa…so, Andy, you finally decided to woos out eh ;o))
With the age of X300’s now beng 15-18 years old now…a lot of
there old style electrics and electronics will continue to be an
ongoing head ache for many owners.
There come a breaking point for every bodies sanity.
Hell, even early X308’s are now 15 years old.
My own car celebrated it’s 15th birthday last Friday the 11th ;o)
Let’s hope the new custodian (can’t really call Jaguars owners)has
eb nough time and energy to continue the saga.
Even though you are at present temporarily sidelined…it won’t be
for long as the ‘Jaguar Pull’ is too great to resist for long ;o))

Cheers,
Maximus–

We excel in that! Anyhow Andy, take care and enjoy being sans Jag for a bit
as I’m sure the neighbors will be able to sleep a bit longer on weekends
:-D>

The neighbors are already loving it. It’s almost 8am and I
haven’t gone out to the driveway yet (although I will
shortly - breather hose to install on the S500).

Cheers Jack…–
