[x300] X300 fuel pump replacement

I would like tp replace the fuel pump on my 1996 X300. I can see
the ank behind the boot cover. It lools simple enough to remove. Is
the anything I need to know before I do this. I am aware of the
special tool needed for the fuel filter line.

Is is possible to get the pump out from under the rear seat as in
other vehicles? I ask this as it seems my tank is always full
thanks to my wife’s desire to never go past the 50% mark.

I am doing this as a precautionary repair. The vhicle has 105K and
this is the only part that I can think of which could ruin a trip.

The t state , w/ pump and alt look easy to do and I may go on and
do them as well. Yes…I am a worry wort.–

Good news, I have just gone through the procedure to replace the
fuel pump on my 1996 X300. The reason I did this was to re attach
the fuel line which came off the pump inside the tank. Here is an
excellent site which describes the process very well with pictures
and such. Hope the link shows up okay … here goes
http://www.skjagtech.co.uk/html/fuel_pump_x300.htm
Follow this and you’ll be okay. By the way it took me about 4
hours total from start to finish and that was taking my own sweet
time. Tank was about 1/4 full of gas but no problem. I took
pictures with my digital camera of the wires and such so as to
reconnect things properly.
I won’t tell you not to do it if everything is okay because you
stated you will worry, so go ahead and then you probably won’t
worry. Let the list know if this helps and how you get on. Hope
this helps you … Grant …–
