[x300] X305 back on the road with wiper fault

Hello;
My 1996 XJ12 is fully imported, licensed and on the road.
It took 6 months and quite a bit of searching to find the 4
solar wheels, the X308 HID headlights and bumpers and the
grille (being painted, not yet installed).

The only mechanical issue I am having is the windshield
wiper doesn’t work on the ‘‘1’’ setting. It works on
‘‘intermittent’’ and ‘‘2’’ (high speed) but putting it to ‘‘1’’ it
parks.
Is this a matter of replacing the stalk, or an ECU or the motor?

Thanks,
Chris–

Hi Chris,
Had a look at the wiring diagram. Could be that the
fast/slow wipe relay is not working. Try swapping with another
relay. Could also be the stalk earth contact for ‘‘slow’’ not making
contact. Try relay first.

I know this is a bit silly… but do you have auto wipers??

If so maybe they are not working because they are not detecting
rain.

Mine are in Auto when in the I positon with the tab slid to Auto
and will not move unless rain is detected. Slide the tab out of
auto and they work like normal intermittent wipers.

Just a though…–
