[x300] x308 xj8 how to clear heater matrix wash or flush

In reply to a message from rich_simpson sent Thu 13 Sep 2007:

The way I clear the heater is to backflush it, disconnect the hoses
and just push the garden hose against the outlet for the heater and
let it run until the stream from the inlet runs clear. I do not use
a connector of any kind as City water pressure runs about 60 psi,
this will blow the heater core! Then you are in for a knuckle-
buster of a job to replace it. Just let it run sloppy around the
connection. If htis does not work, you will need a core
replacement. I never use chemical flushes, they do little good and
they can make a mess of the system, often resulting in expensive
repairs unless done perfectly, which I can never accomplish.–
