[x300] XJ8 2000 model year

Hi,Iam looking to buy a XJ8 to compliment my Stype which my wife
has taken off me for her own use. Can you give advice please on
this model.What are the potential pitfalls of buying this model.
I am looking at a couple of 1 owner cars with FJSH approx 80 miles
on both. Thoughts please

I’m mostly with Ross on this too but if you can get a look at the
service histories and find out if all seemingly required upgrades were
done on the '00s then maybe buying one of them will net you some big
savings.

The things I would look for is:

  • Very timely oil changes
  • Water Pump
  • Tstat
  • timely coolant changes
  • at least timing tensioners and guides

I would also want a blow-by and compression test done.

I can’t think of any more but there may be some more in the archives.

Also if you can find out who had the cars and ask them about their
driving and fuel buying habits. Short trips and cheap fuel isn’t good
for these cars.

If I might ask, what are the prices on these two cars?
