Folks, I’ve been using my procedure for a while now with no bad results. I’ve created a pdf of it for anyone who wants it.
This works for me, but you know, “your mileage may vary”.

Is this the air intake pipe?

Yes this is the air intake pipe. Actually it’s the pipe that goes to the part load breather aperture. This concept works for all the hoses that are like this.
Sorry for the strange pipe description.
