the fan for the radiator siezed. it cost 100 bucks to diagnose.
well, thats ok,they had to take stuff apart to really check it, and
went over the entire ac system too. but $$1,100 to replace the
fan??–

Not trying to be rude, but this little corner of the forum is for
the XJ6. The X-Type is a fine little car (I used to own one), but
it’s experts are over at the X-Type forum.
That being said, $1100 to replace a fan does sound a bit pricy.
Rock Auto has the part for under $200. Assuming $100 an hour in
labor, and two hours to replace it, and you’re looking at a $400
bill-$500 if you add in diagnostic charges. Indie shops will
probably charge less for labor, too.
I’m assuming US dollars here. If you live elsewhere in the world,
exchange rates and cost fo living could totally screw with those
numbers, though.–
