I need some help troubleshooting the blower fans of my '93 XJS.
The blower fans work when I put the selector to ‘‘low’’. When
I set the speed to medium, high or defrost the blower speed
remains the same as on the low setting.
Therefore, I wanted to check the four relays as described in
The Book. But I have trouble finding the unit. I am not a
native English speaker and therefore not sure if I
understand all terms used in the book correctly. Could
somebody please clarify the following:
I assume that the '93 model has also this unit with the
relays.
Concerning the location of the unit, The Book reads: ‘‘unit
that is located adjacent to the left side footwell; the
footwell register and the small padded cover must be removed
to get at it.’’ I have removed what I believe is the padded
cover (called ''console pannel in the Parts&Service Manual
91-96)) after having removed the cover of the vent. Is this
correct? Which part is the footwell register?
Does somebody have a picture of the unit (and maybe its
location) that I am looking for?
Thank you very much for your help.

Fuses ok fans ok control centre dash board ok where are the Darlington Transistors located and can you test these
Hi Roderick welcome to the forums, I have moved your question to the XJ40 list as your car is a later model from the list you posted in, not to worry, its a common mistake that a few people have made in the past.
The transistors are located in the actual fans, one either side, basically you will need to remove the fans and work on them outside the car.
