[xj] 78 XJ6 ser.2

What would be the ideal replacement auto trans. for a
78 xj6 ser.2 with some improvements ?

Would adjustments of the trans. bands be required after
130K miles ? Never had it done so far.

                             Thanks,
                             Walter--

Band adjustment is nominally an ‘on condition’ adjustment, Walter, only
fluid changes are specified in the maintenance schedules…

If there are no shift anomalies, flaring or whatever, adjustments are not
necessary - but if(!) done correctly; adjusting bands will cause no harm,
and may not be out of order…

Walter

The only transmission upgrade I recall is the John’s Cars
Quarterbreed that is for a GM T700 overdrive automatic.

Hi there,
If you have a 3.07/1 or 2.8 etc diff the o/drive
is unnecessary if not used for regular long trips.
The 350 is a good box and can be upgraded up to
2x the power that you would be using at the present.
I would not hesitate to use a well prepared std 350
for what you want for the next few years. Haroldus.–

Does anybody have a cold start injector and a headlight
dim switch with a direction lever that they want to
part with.
