[xj] '87 SIII VDP Federal O2 sensor cables?

I bought an O2 sensor to install in my cat ('87 XJ6 SIII VDP Federal).
The right part came with the wrong cables. My Cat’s O2 sensor has three
long cables 2 white and 1 black. The cables are all over a 1 1/2 to 2
feet long (aprox.) and connect to two different cables. The Bosch OEM
part for my xj6 vdp has one cable with a cup type connector.

Is my O2 sensor a special order part and why would the cables on the OEM
part be different from my Cats part. For those who respond I have pic’s
of the part that’s still in my Cat, but the other part I had to take
back.

Thanks

Jaguar went to the heated, three-wire sensor for the 1987 model year. Should
be easy to find from the “usual suppliers”. Just ask for a 3-wire sensor.
“NBD”…no big deal !

No, it is not a special order. Bosch markets three different types of O2
sensors, all readily available, none a Jaguar-specific part. You need the
“early type” with one wire. That is how it is known: a one wire sensor;
later ones are heated and are three wire sensors.

Sorry: I misread; the information is as I stated except that you obviously
need the three wire sensor. Strange…I think my 88 V12 still uses the one
wire sensors (two).

Most likley the person who looked up the part for you used the wrong
number. Check your serial number of your car(last 6 )starting with USA
non CA numbers start with 321108 and go up from there, if a CA car then
numbers start with 320092 and up, using part number DAC2549 should give
you the 3 wire sensor.
You can get one from AutoZone, Pep Boys, Advance Auto, just get a 3 wire
sensor and splice you ends onto it, and you will be in business for alot
less than the cost from Jag.
