[xj] 87 XJ6 4.2 - What's This Hose? Out of Firewall Down Then Ends

What is the thick Black hose that comes out of the firewall … about 2 inches out …
then bends down 3 or 4 inches … then ends (sealed end) nothing attaches to it?

It’s on the drivers side.

What’s it called … and does anyone know who sells this part?

Bumped it while removing my heater valve, and a big piece of it fell off … it’s toast.

I think I can put a piece of duct tape over it until I get a new one.

Thanks–

That’s the duckbill hose. There’s one on the passenger side, too.

The duckbill hoses allow path for water to drain out of the air intake
plenum. The ends are not actually sealed. Water can drain out but engine
fumes cannot be sucked it.

steve!
Those are water drainage hoses, xk s sells them. If you don’t
have a catalog, I can look up the part numbers.
There is one on each side of the engine coming out the firewall.
I need some new ones too.

Also called cowl drain elbows. I just had to get two new ones
from XKs after a bout with mice/rats in my garage. They ate
the bait I put out which then made them thirsty. They found a
perfect water fountain at the end of the drain and had a feast
on the hoses at the same time. It takes two parts- the Elbow
(BD-42707) and the Cap (BD-34737)

Walter, we’re both right! The drain is listed as a 2-piece
part; the angle tube and the drain tip. The numbers you
list are for the angle tube which has a different number for
right and left side. The part number I cited is for the
crimped tip which fits both.–

The rubber thingy on the right side has a connection for a port on the
battery enclosure. If your enclosure is gone, then get two sets of the left
side pieces. I got mine from SNG Barratt.

Those are really slick one way valves, sometimes, referred to as
gaithers. They resemble the mitral valves in human hearts.

Mine are still healthy!!! sorry, I couldn’t resist!!

When ordering, Steve; refer to ‘right’ or ‘left’ side - Jaguars are
produced ambidexterous…

Yes on the right side for LHD cars. Now if anybody has a
source for that exact one with three openings, please let us
know. The single elbow is quite easy to find, the two headed

The ‘‘mitral’’ valve is held with … staples… great piece
