[xj] A bit OT - Looking for a Benz forum as friendly as this one

Of the forums I frequent, this is by far my favorite one.
No matter what I come up with, nor how often I ask for help,
I usually receive quick, thoughtful, and very useful
responses. I can’t adequately express how much I appreciate
the help I receive here.

I’ve been having trouble finding an equally friendly and
helpful forum for Mercedes Benz cars. If you know of one
for Mercedes where the members are anything like the members
of this forum, I would appreciate it if you would let me
know about it.

Thanks

In reply to a message from BrettVDP sent Sun 6 May 2007:

Brett, I feel your pain. I’ve been doing the same thing in
service of the Lancia I just acquired. Frankly, I don’t hold
out much hope, although the Merc is a much more popular auto
than the Lancia (in the Western hemisphere anyway) so you
might be in luck.

I found a Lancia forum with nice and knowledgeable people on
it, but there are a lot fewer of them and (I’m gonna go
ahead and embarrass somebody now) they’ve got nothing like
the resources we enjoy from the generosity of a single
member of this group, viz., Dr. Gregory, whose (free)
‘‘Jagcare’’ e-book is the most useful resource I’ve found for
any amount of money for a new XJ6 owner.

Anyway, moving beyond individual shoutouts, one of the
reasons I grind my teeth until bits flake off them when
pirates jump aboard and start throwing their weight around
this board (yeah, you know who I’m talking about) is that it
really does have a special spirit that I don’t want to see
wrecked. As long as you’re not cocky or nasty, there are a
lot of people on this forum who derive great pleasure and
satisfaction from helping you out.

Not that it’s perfect; you can get barked at unfairly here
(especially if you think adding two cylinders and sixteen
pushrods to your car is an automatic improvement … not
that there’s anything WRONG with that! ) but overall
if your attitude is cool, this forum is a source of both
solutions and friendships.

Sorry, I’m digressing. I bet you’ll find a fine MB forum,
although I can’t name one (but then, I haven’t looked). I
doubt, though, that you’ll find one as good as this one,
although I hope you do.

Cheers!
