Air cond. is blowing cool, but only out of defrost and tunnel
side outlets on my 83 XJ-6. Amplifier and most other parts have
been repaced. How can I get AC to blow out of dash and rear vents?–

it is probably the Servo, which is the component responsible for opening and closing all the Vent Flaps by way of
vacuum plungers, switches, and thin plastic hoses in Red, Green, Blue, and Black. That is not to say the Servo is bad,
it could be a disconnected or misconnected hose or plunger, or a bad switch at the Servo. If you hear a precision
movement sound when you set the Control Switch at LOW, that’s the Servo doing its job. If only the Defrost vents are
allowing air out, then it sounds like misconnected hoses, because the Defrost vents should only open when you set the
Control Switch to Defrost. DISCLAIMER: everything I say here is based on my own experience dealing with my own a/c.
I am not a technician, and because there is no Manual with which to diagnose, service, or repair these systems, my
opinions are just that, opinions, but having dealt with a 1984 XJ-6 for 12 years, my opinions are based on trial and
error experience repairing the same problems that others are dealing with.–
